RICHLAND, Wash.—Wakeboarders are getting ready for the 3rd annual "Wake the Desert" competition.
The actual contest doesn't start until Saturday, but Friday boarders were already getting their boots wet. They had free instruction throughout the day for anyone who wanted to learn or freshen up on their skills.
"It's an easy sport to get into. Once you get to the more advance tricks it can get tougher but to just get up on the board for the first time is easy," Jason Huffman, organizer.
Registration starts at 8:30am Saturday at the mudhole in Richland. It's $20 for children and $40 for adults. The contest begins at 10am, but they'll be competing throughout the day. About 45 people are expected to participate.
