KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Twenty-five children got a special look at the Water Follies pits this morning.
The Tri-Cities Boys & Girls club took a tour of the event, sponsored by Kadlec Regional Medical Center.
The group got to see hydroplanes, meet the pit crews, meet some drivers and were given an inside look at the how cranes are used to raise and lower the boats into the water.
"The hydroplanes are such a unique history of this community and it's neat to be able to allow them to have that experience and learn a little about the boats. Plus the excitement that this weekend brings is just electric," says Jim Hall of Kadlec.
For most of the kids in attendance it was their first time at the event.
