A lifelong love of hydroplanes makes a career

KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Hydroplane racing is a life-long thrill for many of the fans here. Only some of them get to make a career out of it. Owen Blauman is with the Degree Men 88 team.

He has been involved with the hydroplanes since he was little."Started out as a kid, lived next door to the crew chief of the Budweiser and was his paper boy. He gave me passes. I've been coming ever since," Blauman said.

He has been all over the sport. Blauman was one of the premier hydroplane photographers for years. Volunteering with some of the teams got him more directly involved. Now his driver is J. Michael Kelly and will do all he can to help the young driver succeed.
