KENNEWICK, Wash.--Police are looking for a middle aged man after he attempted to lure a 15 year-old girl Friday afternoon.
Police say the teen was walking along North Lincoln near Okanogan when a man pulled up in his car, asked if she needed a ride and when she said no he tried to grab her.
Police say this is a great example of why people should not walk alone especially at events with big crowds like the Water Follies.
Craig Hanson of the Kennewick Police Department says"subjects that tend to lure kids are looking for single targets. That does not mean that they won't contact maybe a couple walking. But numbers is a safety in that equation. This happened during the day. And it is in my experience it usually does happen during the day time on these kinds of contacts."
Police describe the suspect as a middle aged man of Middle Eastern decent with short dark hair driving an older red two-door car. They are warning people to be careful especially with their children during the Water Follies because it is easy to get lost in the crowds of people.
If you have any information on the suspect please contact Kennewick Police.
