KENNEWICK, Wash.--Police keeping a close watch on Columbia Cup drivers.
Police say during Water Follies they typically see a pretty big increase in both drunk drivers and people not paying attention to the road.
The numbers are in and they appear to be pretty close to last years traffic stats.
State Patrol Lt. Roger Wilbur says "so far this year we arrested 15 DUIs up through last night and last year we were at 16 so we are pretty consistent there as well."
Last year there were 17 collisions and this year there have been 20, so just a slight increase.
Police say that numbers could be up because people who are driving by the boat races are distracted by the boats in the water.
Police are asking drivers to pay attention to the cars around them in case of any immediate slowdowns.
