KENNEWICK, Wash.--Water Follies attendance numbers are in. The numbers are starting to pile in for how many people attended the Water Follies this weekend. This is just a rough estimate and the numbers for the Pasco side still have to come in.
Water Follies Event Director Kathy Powell says "we are in that 70-80,000 range which totally exceeds our expectations. It is just a really good thing to see for the community."
When it comes to tourists coming to the Tri-Cities and spending money, Kris Watkins of the Tri-City Visitor and Convention Bureau says "we know that they at least spent direct dollars of 2.5 million dollars in our community and with the latest numbers coming in I am sure that is going to be surpassed."
Event staff say there were several factors that influenced such high numbers. One of them being the variety of people that attended. Kathy Powell says "lots of young people came and took advantage of it. That was good to see. We're attracting the young folks back into the park and that's always exciting. The old fans, new fans, it was just a great weekend."
