SALEM, Ore. (AP) - Gov. John Kitzhaber has appointed a new district attorney for Umatilla County.
Dan Primus will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Dean Gushwa. Gushwa resigned on May 31. He was found guilty of one count of official misconduct after an Oregon Department of Justice investigation.
Primus, a former attorney in private practice in Salem, Ore., was a deputy district attorney under Gushwa who prosecuted major felony cases.
Primus and former tribal attorney general Chris Buford had expressed interest in the position.
