Helping homeless veterans

Posted: Updated:

There are more than 900 homeless people in the Tri-Cities. Many of them are veterans. About 40 veteran support agencies are coming together on Wednesday to help former soldiers, including those returning home from Iraq and Afghanistan.

They'll be providing medical screenings, dental screenings, and benefit support. They offered a similar program five years ago.

"5 years is a pretty large gap especially with everything going on right now. So there's probably a lot of vets in the area who have not been served or have not yet had the opportunity to take advantage of some of the benefits," said Vet. Corps. Representative, Jason Alves.

The fair will be Wednesday, August 10th from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. on the lawn next to Worksource's location on Kellogg Street in Kennewick. All veterans are invited.
