YAKIMA, Wash- There have been five officer-involved shootings in Yakima County this year, and each one has been reviewed by the prosecuting attorney. Wednesday, Jim Hagarty officially ruled two of those shootings justified.
On April 30 Sunnyside police officers Orate, Sparks, Orth, and Ausland shot and killed José Campuzano. They say he fired at them when they were trying to pull over his car.
On May 9 Yakima police officer Ely shot and seriously injured Iraq veteran Raymond Faucher at a Bank of America. The officer says Faucher was raising a gun to him.
YPD's fatal shooting in January was also ruled justified. Their fatal May shooting in Selah, and last week's injury shooting in Yakima are still under investigation.
