KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Owens Fire is still under investigation. Benton County District #1 Firefighters say they are still looking into the exact cause of the wildfire.
The fire started around 9:00 p.m. near Owens Road off of State Route 397 South of Finley.
Crews were out until 4:00 a.m., 340 acres have burned. No homes were damaged and no injuries have been reported.
Firefighters say that Owens Road is a common area for fires to start. Lt. Scott Loparco of Benton County Fire District #1 says "there has been a lot of little fires along this road. We've had a few of them now that we've determined that have been caused by people up here shooting. Using it as a shooting range."
This is the 5th fire that has stared out on Owens Road. Multiple units responded to assist with the fire. Dozers were used to help control the fire to keep it from spreading.
An investigator will be able to tell next week what exactly caused the fire.
