An increase in fires means firefighters need volunteers
KENNEWICK, Wash.-- An increase in fires means firefighters need volunteers. Local fire departments are now looking for volunteers.
They say during this time of year they typically need the most help.
Benton County Fire District #1 Lt. Scott Loparco says "most fire departments across the state and across the nation are really low on volunteer numbers. We are always looking for them here in the Tri-Cities, Benton County area."
Volunteers get the same kind of training as paid firefighters including structural fire, hazmat training, wildland training and medical training.
Applications can be found online at your local fire department or you can stop by the station.
