KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Local Social Security offices are now closing earlier. Starting Monday, August 15th, the Tri-Cities, Yakima, and Walla Walla offices will all close at 3:30 each afternoon, instead of 4:00. They'll still open at 9:00am, and employees are still working the same number of hours, but this will cut down the amount of overtime.
Earlier this year, Congress slashed funding for Social Security by nearly $1-billion, so this will help make up some of that money.
The Social Security Administration says the hours change may mean it's easier or faster for you to take care of Social Security matters online. Click here for a link to the website.
