COWICHE, Wash. -- A pilot had to make a miraculous landing after his engine died mid-flight. The emergency hard landing happened around seven last night near Cowiche. The 63-year-old instructor and his student landed in an alfalfa field on North Cowiche road. The plane's engine blew a two-inch hole through the top of the cylinder. Both men on board walked away fine. The plane had a damaged wing and crumpled landing gear.
