KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Food is always a popular topic no matter where you go and international flavors are growing in the Tri-Cities.
You'll find an increasing number of international food stores in the area. Some are located within a mile of each other. European delights is located on Clearwater Avenue near Edison. It's been open for three months.
The owners say they saw a need for a market that sold food from Eastern Europe, "like some other stores have little section just for a couple of things and not much kinds," explains Alex Shapoval, owner of European Delights.
Other business owners like Abdirahman Hassan, of East Africa Grocery and Halal on Vista Way in Kennewick, say the store satisfies an important need, "our community they come here from Seattle and from Africa, they come here and they need hahal meats, so they cannot get it from other stores, they cannot get halal meat that's why we started."
The owners of that shop say the special food preparation techniques for Muslims have helped their business grow.
