A passion for singing and song writing sent Kate Turner across the country, hoping to find her place in the music industry. But one phone call brought her back home.
"I got a random phone call from one of my friends who said 'you should move home and let me record a couple of songs for you.'" Tuner said.
It was all she needed to find comfort in the recording studio, and confidence in her lyrics. "I've have always been a writer and a singer, but it wasn't until the last couple of years that I was able to put them together."
With a new awareness came a local country hit, written after a broken engagement. "Eventually it just kind of fell apart, and so I wrote that song 'Baby No'", explained Turner.
"Baby No" quickly took off. Getting hundreds of downloads on Itunes and thousand of hits on her social networking sites.
"Social networking on the web has completely changed music and when you don't have a big name it has really been the one thing that has put my name out there," she said.
Furthermore, her fans, which she likes to call "Dedi-Kates" have taken notice, donating money and following her success.
