Central Washington Expects Big Things from the 'D'

Ellensburg, WA--- Central Washington's defense always impresses on game day.  For the past two seasons, the Wildcats ranking in the top ten in the nation total defense.  A staple of head coach Blaine Bennett's defense is the ability to force turnovers. Last season, Central Washington ranking 20th in the nation with 28 total turnovers.  Just part of the reason why Bennett's defenses are successful. The other, their approach during practices.

Senior defensive lineman Mike Reno said, "The coaches are very adamant that we need to fly to the football. And we need to swarm to the football. I mean everybody needs to... No matter where they are find their way to the ball. And I think that's a big emphasis... We need turnovers."

Sophomore defensive back Stan Langlow added, "The coaches definitely have high expectations for us. They always want us to go full speed all the time... And in order to fill shoes like Bighill... You're not going to do it unless you do go full speed all the time."
