KENNEWICK, Wash.--High school students rally to help leukemia patient. A group of students from Burbank High School organized a fundraising event for Abigail Hamlin, a Finley High School student battling leukemia.

The students reached out to help Hamlin when they heard through friends she was diagnosed with leukemia. Michael Stanton of Burbank High has organized several car washes to help pay for a benefit concert to raise money for the disease Abby is battling. He says telling her the news was extremely rewarding. Stanton says "it was a really cool experience to meet then tell her personally what we are doing for her."

Michael is planning to do another car wash on September 3rd, just before the concert on October 22nd. So far the group has raised more than $500 to pay for the concert with help from Wakeup, an organization that specializes in charity events.
