Yakima's Salvation Army donating lots of school supplies
YAKIMA, Wash.-- Many parents are doing their annual back to school shopping at our local stores, but some families who can't afford supplies are forced to look elsewhere.
Every year The Salvation Army has their back to school donation drive.
This year, Yakima's Salvation Army says they've seen many churches and organizations doing the same because there's a big local need.
Now they're hoping to partner up and have an even bigger drive near year.
"I've already started talking to some of the churches that are doing some big things this year, that maybe we can partner next year to make this a big distribution for the kids in our school districts," said Lisa Sargent with The Salvation Army.
Yakima's Salvation Army has received about $5,000 worth of supplies which they say they donate directly to the school district.
