YAKIMA, Wash.-- The Miss Yakima County Pageant was held today at the Capitol Theatre in Yakima.
Girls from around the area competed in the pageant for the chance to be crowned Miss Yakima County and take home $1,000 in scholarship money.
The current Miss Yakima County, Jerrica Fowler, says that with the scholarships she received from the pageants last year she was able to finish her degree, debt free!
"Miss America is the largest provider of scholarship for young women in the world. they make over $45 million available every single year," said Fowler.
All the of participants in the pageant will receive scholarship money for competing. Fowler says that while she loved representing Yakima County, she's excited to pass the crown on to another girl.
