Demolition derby kicks off Benton Franklin Fair & Rodeo
KENNEWICK, Wash. -- The Benton Franklin Fair & Rodeo officially begins Tuesday, but if you go to the fairgrounds Monday night, you'll see a lot of speed and crashes.
The demolition derby starts Monday night and drivers will put their cars to the ultimate test in the two hour event that will feature crushed metal and lots of noise.
Lori Lancaster of the Benton Franklin Fair and Rodeo says the derby is always a popular event, "It's just a lot of fun, crashing cars, racing cars, lots of dirt, so it's always a good time, family friendly event."
The derby sold out last year and is expected to sell out again. The fair officially opens Tuesday morning with a variety of events including performances by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and Kenny Rogers later in the week.
