PASCO, WA-About 100 kids in the Tri-Cities,getting ready to head back to school, got a head start Wednesday.
They picked up their school supplies from the Salvation Army, which has been collecting items for the last few weeks.
Colleen Miller at the Tri-Cities Social Service office says the donations are helping a lot of families struggling to buy everything on the back-to-school list.
"And at the elementary level it's even a larger list," Miller says. "Teachers are asking for hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes and different household items that just add to the already financial burden that buying school supplies already is."
Donations came from you and other people who dropped off supplies at several banks in the Tri-Cities, as well as local Fred Meyer stores.
