Doc Hastings talks about political issues at luncheon
PASCO, Wash.-- Some of the issues the Republican leader talked about include the bi-partisan super committee and it's impact on our area.
At the 2011 congressional update at the Red Lion hotel in Pasco, Hastings offered his thoughts about the super committee. The group was designed to examine the nations deficit and come up with ways to find savings.
Speaking to local employers, Hastings says he's hoping for a business friendly response,"we have a temporary tax model, and a permanent spending model. And that frankly needs to be reversed because the job creators want to have some certainty that a tax policy on the investments they would make."
Other topics discussed during the luncheon were, creating public access to Rattlesnake Mountain, Yucca mountain closure, and energy production.
Congress is in recess right now. He spoke to members of the Tri-City Regional Chamber of Commerce today.
