KENNEWICK,WA-If you're tough enough to wear pink Thursday evening at the Benton Franklin Fair and Rodeo, you'll help raise money for breast cancer prevention.
For every person who wears pink at the rodeo, the fair will donate one-dollar to local hospitals to pay for mammograms and follow-up care to women without health insurance.
Some 4-H kids are donating the sale of their livestock to the campaign. "Last year we had a steer that sold for $23,000 for the Tough Enough to Wear Pink Campaign," says Lori Lancaster, fair marketing director. "So you never know what'll happen at the sale tomorrow (Friday)."
Preston Premium wines is donating $1,600 in sales of its pink wines.
Other sponsors, including Washington Trust Bank, hope to raise $15,000 thousand dollars this year. The fair has raised more than $85,000 for cancer prevention over the past five county fairs.
