PASCO, WA - The Riverhawks boys basketball team hosted the Frankston Blues from Australia. Following last night's game, the Australian players stayed overnight at the Chiawana players' homes. Kennewick, WA--- There's a small margin between winning and losing. Southridge knows this fact all too well.  Three of its six games were lost in the fourth quarter last year.

The Suns turn to senior quarterback Matt Mendenhall to guide Southridge to back to winning form. Leading the Big 9 3A in passing a year ago.  His ability to lead the team is more important than ever, as the Suns defense returns just one starter from last season.

Head coach Tony Reiboldt said, "Matt's the guy that we're going to be looking to put the team on his shoulders, and he's really accepted that role as a team captain. He's a kid that's really progressed throughout the summer. We've asked him to take more of a leadership role and have better huddle presence."

Mendenhall said, "You know just be a leader in the huddle and on the sidelines if I'm not playing on defense. You know keep everyone in the game. Keeping the sideline in the game. Cheer them on. Make sure we're dialed in. There's no mental errors, and also physically ready with conditioning and stuff."

Southridge opens up the season September second... At Wenatchee.
