YAKIMA, Wash.-- The Yakima Valley Conference of Governments is sponsoring a 5 week campaign to encourage people to use alternative forms of transportation.
YVCOG is partnering with RideShareOnline.com to provide incentives for people who use different forms of transportation to get to and from work.
Their "Lose the Keys and Score Big" campaign runs until September 18th and rewards anyone who uses alternative transportation.
"We're running the contest, if you bike, commute, or walk 4 times out of the month you'll be eligible for local prizes," said Serena Pettit, who is involved in the campaign.
They say that aside from clearing up traffic congestion, and reducing omissions, alternative transportation is a social experience. If you're interested in participating, contact Brian Curtin at 509-574-1550 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
