KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Firefighters 'fill the boot.' You may have seen Kennewick and Benton County firefighters out today collecting money. It is for their 'fill-the boot' fundraiser.
All the money goes to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. A muscle disorder that is coming close to finding more cures thanks to donations and community help.
Kennewick Fire Department Captain Kelly Williamson says "a lot of the money stays in our area to provide medical checkups, wheelchair repair and sending kids to camps. So the money does get used here locally."
'Fill the Boot' is an annual event that is recognized nationally for all firefighters that started in the 50s.
