KENNEWICK, Wash. --First year teachers to get first year libraries. The Children's Reading Foundation of the Mid-Columbia is giving away new and used books for new teachers setting up classrooms.
The organization is panning on donating 50 new books and 50 used books for each new teacher in the district. First year libraries are a great advantage in the classroom.
Executive Director Brian Ace says "by offering first teacher libraries, it allows the teacher to know they are going to be able to start their school career with a library. That is a benefit to them and to the students they teach."
The Children's Reading Foundation is teaming up with Goodwill and plans on doubling the number of libraries they give out. Last year about 30 reading libraries were given to teachers. This years goal is to reach more than 60.
