KENNEWICK, Wash. -- The Tri-City Americans are back on the ice. They started main camp Monday. 47 hopefuls showed up to the Toyota Center, all vying to make the roster. The players split up into two teams and will scrimmage each other every night this week. Coach Jim Hiller wasted no time pushing his guys back to full speed.
The veterans say they already feel the difference from the off-season now that they are back on the ice. Forward Mason Wilgosh said, "It's nice getting back into things again. Summer's not the same type of tempo as it is now, and it's nice to turn it up again and get things started." Defenseman Brock Sutherland added, "When you come back here it's definitely different than what you do in the summer, but it's definitely not as hard as it is here. It's a lot more up tempo."
