UNION GAP, Wash. (AP) - Shots were fire in a courtroom at the Union Gap City Hall when an offender tried to escape from an armed security guard.
No one was hit by gunfire in the shooting just before noon Thursday, and the offender was taken into custody.
The offender and the guard were both injured in a fight that took them into the lobby and ended in a women's rest room.
Sgt. Greg Cobb says up to 20 people were in the courtroom when the offender tried to flee after being remanded back into custody by Municipal Judge Bob Northcott.
Officers from several agencies responded to help control the situation.
