RICHLAND, Wash.--Damaging earthquakes not expected in area. Richland residents have nothing to worry about. The earthquakes that hit Richland last night happened between 6:30 and 9:30 p.m. ranged from 1.8 to 3.6 duration magnitude.
Director of the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network John Vidale says "the whole region around Richland is prone to swarms every couple of years. So it would be expected. We have lots more little earthquakes in the area. It is highly unlikely we would have anything big enough to be damaging."
Swarms are smaller earthquakes common in the area. They happen every few years and do not necessarily mean any bigger earthquakes are to come.
