16th and Washington construction should finish in October
YAKIMA, Wash.-- Some of our viewers wanted to know when construction on 16th Avenue and Washington in Yakima would be finished. Workers say it should be done by the first or second week of October.
They're adding extra lanes and putting up brand new stoplights. The city says the changes will allow people to get through the intersection faster than before.
"The wait's gonna be worth it once we get everything opened up and hopefully people will forget all the pain that they had to go through," says Yakima Construction Supervisor Bruce Floyd.
Floyd says traffic at the intersection has increased over the past few years, which is what convinced them to widen it. He says once the new stoplights are installed, they'll move forward on paving and finishing the road.
