SUNNYSIDE, Wash.-- Sunnyside Police have made more arrests in their effort to combat gangs.

They arrested 6 young teens over the weekend ranging from 13 to 16 years-old.

In one case, a 16 year-old flashed a gun at people playing football. When officers arrested the teen they found the gun and two knives.

Leaders with the Sunnyside Police Department say they are fully committed to fighting gang crime in their city.

"Gangs are our highest priority and we're going to do absolutely everything possible to eliminate them from our community," said Sunnyside PD Deputy Chief Phil Schenck.

He says along with the new gang unit the department has also increased the number of patrol officers on the street.
