Animals rescued from Monastery Complex Fire

KLICKITAT COUNTY, Wash.-- Animals rescued from Monastery Complex Fire. These the past few days have been focused on getting people out and now the Red Cross is working to get hundreds of pets rescued from the Monastery Complex Fire. They have several hundred animals there from livestock to small pets. Even 102 Shar-Peis were rescued for a dog breeder. Crews have been working with the animals all day.

Sarah Foster of the Department of Natural Resources says "the Red Cross shelter is here in the fire camp with us at the fairgrounds. A lot of the people who have been evacuated have been bringing their livestock and their other animals. We've got horses and goats and alpacas and dogs and all sorts of other creatures that are being evacuated and being moved out of harm's way."

Local organizations are working together with the Red Cross to set up food donations for the pets and for the people who are staying at the Klickitat County Fairgrounds.
