YAKIMA, Wash.-- People in Yakima also showed their respect in Fulbright Park Sunday.
The ceremony centered around a service held by the Changing Pointe Church, and included a 21-gun salute and the release of doves.
Local Fire and Police Departments were also in attendance.
Pastors from the church say it's important to have a local ceremony to remember 9/11.
"Yakima was not in New York, but in Yakima we still, we're still Americans and we represent America. I know, although I may not have been in New York, I cried that day and cried for 9 years," said Changing Pointe Church pastor, Eli Moreno.
Moreno says the ceremony isn't just about commemorating the victims of the attacks, but also about celebrating the survival of America through hard times.
