Red Cross says help fire victims with cash

Posted: Updated:

Kennewick, WA-If you'd like to help the victims of the wildfire near Goldendale, the Red Cross says open your wallet, not your garage.

The fire spreads across more than 4,000 acres and has destroyed the homes of at least 18 families along with another 100 other buildings.

Rachel Heglar at the Benton Franklin Red Cross says cash donations are better because it doesn't have the manpower to collect and distribute food and clothing to the families who've lost their homes.

She says you can drop off or mail donations to its Kennewick office at 7202 W. Deschutes. You can also click here to donate on line.

Firefighters say they hope to contain the fire by Thursday.
