Students bending the laws of physics

Posted: Updated:

RICHLAND, Wash.-  Some students at Richland High school bent the laws of physics Wednesday.

They were experimenting with a mixture of cornstarch and water.

It's called a non-Newtonian liquid, and acts like a solid and a liquid at the same time.

Materials Science and Technology Teacher Brian Smith says the mixture is a close substitute for quicksand.
