PASCO, Wash. -- Police have released the names of those involved in a shooting Wednesday afternoon.
They say Officer Chad Pettijohn shot and injured 19-year-old suspect Ezequiel Chavez after he allegedly fired shots at Pettijohn.
It all started when Officer Pettijohn was responding to a report of suspicious behavior, possibly a burglary, on the 1100 block of West Park in Pasco. Chavez was hospitalized and two bullet wounds. He is currently in stable condition. Chavez had a felony warrant for his arrest for escape from community custody with an original charge related to narcotics.
The Special Investigations Unit is investigating. Officer Pettijohn is a 6-year-veteran of the Pasco Police Department. He is currently on administrative leave (standard procedure pending investigation results).
