KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Tri-Cities top 10 for higher wages. The Tri-Cities is one of the top 10 cities in the country for higher wages. Economists released the latest numbers for wage earnings this week.

The Tri-Cities ranks 6 out of a list of 372 other cities. The numbers were measured after accounting for inflation. We spoke to some people today who say they have a pretty good idea why our numbers are so high.

Lori Mattson of the Tri-City Regional Chamber says "I would imagine that the $27 average is because we do save such a high sector a large sector of engineers and scientists because of the lab."

Tri-Cities ranks above the national average at $27.02. The national average is $22.96.

Washington state also has a higher minimum wage than most states.
