Non-profit organization raising money to minimize feral cats
KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Non-profit organization raising money to minimize feral cats. A Local non-profit organization is raising money to take care of the growing number of feral cats.
They were out at Safeway on Saturday asking for donations. Organizers say there are hundreds of homeless cats in the Tri-Cities. They recommend spaying neutering the animals instead of killing them.
Director Harriet Johnson says "communities who have done a euthanasia blitz so to speak. Trying to kill all the cats. It's doesn't really work very well because the ones that are left, nature says we have a shortage and then they try to have more litters and bigger litters."
So far the group has taken care of more than eleven-hundred cats this year, a third of which are feral. They also has spay and neuter options available for low income families that don't want unexpected litters.
