Bomb squad called to KiBe High School

Posted: Updated:

The Kiona-Benton City School District says Monday morning, at KiBe High School, a student claimed to have a piece of pipe that he allegedly exploded at home.

As a precaution the Benton County Sheriff called the Richland Bomb squad to investigate and make sure other students were safe. School district leaders say, within minutes, the bomb squad found a small aluminum piece of metal that appeared to have had a firecracker that had been lit inside of it. The Sheriff determined the building was not in danger at any time and he did not feel the need to evacuate.
