YAKIMA, Wash.--The 25th annual "Catch the Crush" is this weekend. Wineries around Yakima Valley and the Tri-Cities area will host events celebrating this year's harvest.
Wineries and vineyards hold quite a few celebrations across the year, but this one is special because it comes at the time when they're actually harvesting the grapes. The events will happen all around Yakima and the Tri-Cities, including wine tastings, tours, and even grape stomping.
It's helpful for wine makers, allowing their customers to see exactly where the wine comes from, which many far away wineries can't offer.
"One of our strengths is actually growing and making the wine right here so this is the time of year where people get to see us in action," says Scott Southard, of Southard Winery.
He says "Catch the Crush" is much more relaxed than other wine events. He's planning a barbeque at his winery on Sunday. If you want to learn event and location times for "Catch the Crush", you can click here.
