Yakima School District board seat up for hire

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, Wash.-- Yakima School Board member David Garcia announced his resignation today so now the district is now taking applications for Garcia's position on the board.
Normally, the person who fills the seat would be elected by the voters.

But because this has happened so close to the election, the board will appoint someone to hold the position until next year's election.

"I find it to be a very worthwhile use of my time, to be able to support the students of the Yakima community and support the staff of the Yakima School District in this way," said Martha Rice, president of the board.

Anyone interested in applying can pick up an application at the District Central Services Office.  You can also find the application online.

The deadline to apply is October 14th.
