KENNEWICK, Wash. -- The Sexual Assault Response Center (SARC) in Kennewick is well known for its work over the last 30 years, helping victims of sexual crimes. But not many people know who to turn to when other things go wrong. Working together with SARC, The Crime Victim Service Center is a non profit organization helping people who have fallen victim to non sexual crimes.

"Kidnapping, elder abuse, hate crimes, harassment, gang violence, homicide," and the list goes on says Renee Blackman, the Program Director for CVSC.

The organizations has been helping  people in the Tri-Cities deal with non sexual crimes for the last five years.  Blackman says many don't know about the program or take advantage of their services.

"We provide legal advocacy, we'll help the victim through the legal process, with reporting, assist them with getting a protection order if that's what they need," says Blackman.

This fiscal year, from July 2010- July 2011 the CVSC counselors served 89 new clients,  a small fraction of the new clients they served for sexual crimes victims served, 343.

"We do crisis intervention.  We have a 24 hour crisis hot line, we have an onsite counselor that provides free counseling sessions for people who don't have insurance," says Blackman.

There is a 24 hour anonymous hotline you can call if you need help, that number is 1-888-9 VICTIM
