Knox family, friends fly to Perugia for final days
PERUGIA, ITALY- The defense team for a University of Washington student has begun presenting its case to an Italian jury.
Amanda Knox's family and friends have flown to Italy to be in the courtroom in a show of support as the appeals trial enters its final days.
Curt Knox, Amanda's father, says his daughter is holding up under the pressure.
The appeals trial has lasted nearly a year. This summer independent forensic experts described the DNA used to convict Knox unreliable, giving Knox hope the Italian court will overturn the guilty verdict and her 26 year prison term.
However, despite the expert testimony, prosecutors want Knox's sentence increased to life in prison.
The court convicted Knox, her boyfriend at the time, and a third man of murdering Knox's roommate in November 2007.
A verdict could come later this week or early next week.
