Ams Hughesman named WHL player of the week

KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Tri-City Americans veteran Adam Hughesman is the Western Hockey League player of the week. The left winger picked up seven points, scoring one goal and six assists in two games over the opening weekend. Four of those assists came Sunday in the Ams' 6-5 win over Portland. Hughesman's performance guided the Americans to a 2-0 start to the regular season. The Ams are off until this weekend when they take on Portland and Spokane on the road.

"It was a good way to start the year two victories as well, my line mates played great and we got a few bounces along the way. But it was a good way to start the year," Hughesman said.

"He is one of the players that I thought really showed good leadership and played the game the right way start to finish. That is no surprise that he is rewarded on the scoreboard because of that. So he is a really important player for us," said Jim Hiller, Tri-City head coach.
