Manufacturing leaders tour a unique Pasco facility
PASCO, Wash.- Hundreds of leaders in the manufacturing industry are in town for an expo at the TRAC and many of them toured a unique facility in Pasco Wednesday.
They took a tour of TiLite a company that mass produces specially made wheelchairs.
TiLite started in the Tri-Cities 14 years ago and has grown to be one of the top wheelchair manufacturers in the U.S. They also do business in 36 other countries.
Organizers say the tour was an opportunity to attract new manufacturing companies to the Tri-Ccities.
"It's also an opportunity for us to hear from them as to how they would solve particular problems that maybe we are encountering. We're a young company and always trying to improve," says TiLite V.P. of Marketing Josh Anderson
"Manufacturing is important because eventually Hanford is going to downsize it's going to be less important to the community. We need to find alternatives for economic development," Says Director of Business Expansion at TRIDEC.
TiLight and over 120 other manufacturers will be at the 2011 smartmap expo at the trac in pasco tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
