RICHLAND, Wash. -- Dozens celebrated the Jewish New year, Rosh Hashanah. Services were held at the Congregation Beth Sholom in Richland, starting at 9:30am.
The were led by Rabbi Izakson of Spokane, who comes into the Congregation for major holidays.
The Jewish new year began Wednesday at sundown and continues through Friday afternoon. Debbie Greene, with the Congregation says it's a time to celebrate and reflect all together. "We celebrate with sweet bread, and honey and apples, and we hope for new things to come our way, and reflect on the year and hope that we don't make the same mistakes we made last year," says Greene.
Jerry Lewis, who is in charge of communications for the Congregation Beth Shalom says, although there is not a big Jewish population in the Tri-Cities, it is pretty close nit.
There will be a Tashlich ceremony at Howard Amon Park at 5:00pm and then evening services starting at 7:00pm, Morning services will resume Friday at 9:30am.
