KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Fatal motorcycle accident. It happened where Kellogg Street turns into Creekstone Drive in Kennewick. Just pieces of a bike are leftover from the accident that happened at 2:45 a.m.
Kennewick Police say the driver died of head injuries. Mike Blatman says "officers got there within a couple of moments and they discovered a motorcycle laying on it's side. The motorcycle had struck the curb. The driver was thrown from the motorcycle, skid across there and then he struck his head. Hit his helmet against the curb and he was dead at the scene."
We talked with family at the scene where Troy died. They had no idea why he was going so fast. A cousin, Guy Bates says "we don't know other than what's been put on Facebook. We have no idea what happened. Which direction he was going, if he was coming home."
Neighbors say this is an area where a lot of accidents happen. Cody Freeman says "we've had two drunk drivers end up in our front yard since we've lived here. And now there's a fatal accident which is very concerning."
Police could not confirm if alcohol was involved. A memorial for Troy is being planned by his family and friends.
