RICHLAND, Wash.--Free bus passes offered to all students and staff. A new partnership between Columbia Basin College and Ben Franklin Transit will let students and staffers ride the bus for free.
Columbia Basin already pays for students who ride the bus but Ben Franklin Transit decided to give all students and staff the opportunity, not just regular bus riders. Everyone will get a bus sticker on their school IDs.
Service Development Manager Kathy McMullen says "the hope is that more people will start riding the bus. They'll all have a pass. They can try it out, find out how great it is and how convenient, and the college can save money on parking."
The program was started to encourage more people to ride the bus and to help with crowded parking lots at Columbia Basin College. A new bus route has been created on Road 67 to help people get to class.
