RICHLAND, Wash.—The City of Richland is looking to sell the land where the old Richland Community Center used to be. The facility was on George Washington Way back in 2004, now it's a big hole.
A city representative says they sold the land, the buyers went bankrupt and about a year ago the city bought back the area. Now they're talking with a possible buyer and hope to sell by the end of 2011.
"They see this site with the potential for an urban-oriented building that's pressed close to the street with a strong pedestrian influence, multi-story and a mix of uses. So the group we're talking to shares those visions, so it's just a matter of making sure their expectations meet ours," says Joe Schiessl, City of Richland Planning & Redevelopment.
Schiessl could not say who the group is. Right now they are in the feasibility stage.
